About us
The Bulmershe Community
Association was launched in September 2005. We hope that the Association will be
made up of pupils, staff, parents and governors of Bulmershe School and
some local residents.
Over the past four years, we have helped out at Parents' Evenings and run several fund-raising events.
History
The Bulmershe School has had a parents' association in some form since at least 1981. For twenty four years, one couple whose children once attended the school ran weekly bingo sessions at the school. Over this time they raised nearly £50,000 for the school and over 120 people from the local community used to attend the weekly session. All of this money went directly to benefit the students. The organisers of the Bingo used to ask the school departments to submit bids for money and were particularly keen that resources should be made available for students who needed extra support with learning. Other events that have been run in the past include trips to London Theatres, Long weekends away, day trips to France, Autumn Fayres, Car boot sales, Treasure hunts, Barn dances, Discos, Second hand uniform sales and Quiz evenings.
For more information, see the History page.
Volunteer
Everyone is welcome to participate - the more active members we have the more events we can hold and the more money we can raise for the school and local community. We are particularly keen to hear your ideas for possible events, outings and other activities. If you would like to help, please complete the form (available as a Word document or as an Acrobat PDF) and return it to the School Office or email it back to us as an attachment so that we can get in contact (send to contact @ bulmershecommunityassociation.org.uk - close up spaces around '@' to send).
A recent article in the Guardian Newspaper discussed the benefits to parents, pupils and schools of School Associations - take a look at the article and see why getting involved is such a good idea.
